OOTD: Won Hundred

Vest (Won Hundred) / Jeans(Cotton On) / Hat (American Apparel) / Necklace (Forever XXI) / Watch (Thrift) / Shoes (Bed Stu)

Hey cubs!
So during this past hot-as-a-bitch weekend, my friend Olivia and I got together and shot some outfits. She runs and incredible personal style blog over at: http://oliviashutey.blogspot.com/. I got to use her camera, and being a new DSLR owner I was stoked to shoot with her 50mm lens! Loved it so much I went out and got one for myself the next day (so expect some way better pictures!)

Here are two shots of this outfit I enjoyed the most. I've been wearing this vest so much lately, such a great summer item because I can justify going (everywhere) sleeveless because it's such a great outer piece.
Don't forget to check out HauteTalk.com, my other internship. I've been writing quite a few articles there each week and I'd love for you to check them out!

I've got 21 days left in NYC. I don't wanna leave wahhhhh. *tear*

Until next time xo,

DIY: Watercolor Business Cards

So you all know I'm a fashion intern working 40 hours a week and making absolutely no money right? Well consider us frugal but my friend Maddie and I had the idea of making handmade business cards for when we go on assignments and need to trade contact info. Since interns aren't supplied personalized business cards... we thought we'd take care of that on our own!

Supplies:
Watercolor Paper
Watercolors (Cheap brands will be fine!)
Paintbrushes
Pen/Sharpie
Scissors

Lightly trace a standard business card onto to the watercolor paper so you know where to cut later. Use the water colors to spread shades of color throughout the page. Be messy! Tip: use more water, the colors will blend more easily. When you are happy with your design, let it dry for a while, then cut along your outlines!

Write your info on the back and from of the cards as desired! I left the back white, but feel free to water color each side of the paper.

(more pretty fluff pics)

It's as simple as that! If you're worried about being unprofessional, I understand... but for quick "Hey I'd love to feature you in my blog post or get in touch with you later about so-and-so..." these are perfect. A good idea would be to get some professional business cards printed, but save those for interviews and suit-n-tie kind of events you may come across (and use these crafted ones in the meantime!)
Have fun crafting and send me some pictures! I wanna see what you lovely cubs come up with.

Lionista™: Gabby

Top (Beacon's Closet) / Shorts (Thrifted)
Hey cubs!
First Lionista™ from NYC! I met Gabby when my friend Maddie and I went to a street festival in Brooklyn last weekend. It was full of vendors and performers. Gaby was nice enough to let me interrupt her lunch and snap a few pictures. I couldn't help but notice the lively print of her top! She got it from Beacon's Closet. It's a buy and sell used clothing store, similar to Plato's Closet. They have a few locations throughout NYC. I'll need to stop by one soon and check it out!
I threw in some pictures of some wall art and scenery too from around Brooklyn. This part of town is filled with artsy coffee shops, graffiti, and boutiques... definitely my kind of place.
Stay tuned for more NYC updates!

OOTD: Won Hundred

Top (Won Hundred) / Jeans(Cotton On) / Watch (Thrift) / Shoes (ALDO)
Hey cubs!
First post from NYC! Today I’m wearing my new sweater from the Danish brand Won Hundred. It’s one of the lines we represent at Archetype Showroom (one of my internships!) and I love all of their stuff. I catch myself going through the Fall/Winter 2013 line getting seriously distracted! This is from their Spring/Summer 2013 line, super soft and amazing colors.
I really wanted to highlight the piece so I kept it simple by pairing it with just a simple gold watch that I found at a flea market this weekend (3$!) I thought it was the perfect accent for the awesome color of the sweatshirt.
Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more posts from the big apple!

OOTD: Collar Necklace

Hey cubs!
I’m currently in the process of applying for fashion PR internships in NYC this summer, wish me luck!
This OOTD features a thrifted top that I removed the sleeves from. Just take scissors to a shirt your getting bored with!
I paired it with a necklace from Forever XXI. I thought the rough exposed seam paired with the clean necklace made this outfit exciting. Also, the necklace now becomes the focal point without the distraction of the sleeves; this created a more streamlined look!
Keep roaring! xx

Outfit of the Day: Camo

Hey Lionistas™,
Went shopping this weekend! I thrifted most of my items - plus a pair of forest green colored jeans from Cotton On, yummy yum!
These kicks are from Aldo, my newest and favorite addition to the wardrobe!
Camo? I never thought I’d see the day I wore camo confidently and cool. I found this long sleeve at Goodwill. I was stoked because it didn’t have any designs or applique to ruin it - which means it can go with nearly anything… black jeans, studded denim vest/over shirt, trucker hat, shorts, combat boots (of course). The possibilities are endless this one!
When you thrift think of the possible outfits you can make from one piece. That’s when you know it’s a great find!
Stay on the prowl xx,
Justin Gilbert

Lionista™: Maggie

Top (Macy’s) / Skirt (Target) / Watch (Target) / Bracelet (Theme Park) /Shoes (Urban Outfitters)
Hey cubs!
This is my friend Maggie. She’s got an effortlessly cool style that she pairs with a simply radiant personality. I HAD to have this ray of sunshine featured as this week’s Lionista™.
My favorite part of this outfit is the way she so bravely used color. Right down to the socks, she kept her look cohesive by implementing warm shades of red, brown, and orange.
She’s one of my biggest influences for style because she can take items from everyday stores and make them work for her individual style. Always imagine how you can get the most wear out of any item you buy. A trick I use is to picture the piece already being in your wardrobe and playing with your other clothes, instead of on the rack from a specific store. This way you can more easily see the options it could be paired with.
Until next time!
